Itala has been a painter since the age of six. In the beginning, her work featured melancholic landscapes and dried-out flowers. In time, she eliminated realistic details, searching for abstract evanescence. Her themes are geometric abstractions of landscapes and of Venetian scenes. Recently, she has added visions of Lake Michigan and portraits of flowers, sometimes including texts of her own poetry.
