I was drawn to the mandala-like form of this cactus – its energy and pointed leaves, insuring its survival. As I began to paint, I realized that I had not packed the shade of green I thought I needed. Instead, I was forced to borrow a random shade of green,that was chartreuse. This was a lucky “accident.” The intensity of this green articulated the visionary component of my subject, as I continued, in the blazing sun.
