The Obsidian Butterfly, Quetzalpapalotl, is the ruling santa tierra (land spirit) of the Butterfly Palace in Teotihuacan, Mexico; and also rules over the Places of the Misty Sky. She revealed herself to me in a shamanic journey, where her skeleton merged with my own, and she placed an egg on my belly. She is the Keeper of my mesa, my medicine bundle, and so I pay homage to her, this fierce goddess of life/death, through my art.
