Oil Painting
by Carolyn Schlam

Oil on canvas
36″H, 36″W

Carolyn Schlam is a figurative painter, sculptor and glass artist. Her portraiture is modern and narrative; to peer below the surface and express the ineffable peculiarity of human emotion is always her intent. A kind of longing to be witnessed is at the heart of her imagery. She is currently working in oil, ink, mixed media, glass and wood.

In 2013, Carolyn was named one of the finalists in the Smithsonian Museum Portrait Competition and her work, Frances at 103 was subsequently acquired by the Smithsonian. She is now at work on “In Bloom,” a proposed exhibition of 100 works of feminine portraits and floral motifs.
