Glass Wall Art
by Anne Wren Nye

Kiln Glass Wall Panel
20″H, 20″W

This piece began with a story about a young couple who went to the farmer’s market and bought lemons. Then something happened. What was it? The lemons remain untouched on the weathered wood table. Is he coming back or walking away? Created in my signature method of glass powders applied with palette knife to sheet glass. Highly textured and kiln fired to a satin finish.

“For me each piece I create is a story in the making. I begin with an inspiration, something I’ve seen or often part of a dream. Sometimes it’s just a group of colors that seem to niggle at my brain, teasing me to come play. Once I start working, the search begins for the story. Much like a writer working out a plot, a dialogue develops with each piece sometimes taking me in a completely different direction than I first thought.”

Anne Nye studied fine art at the University of Idaho & California College of the Arts, completing course work for a BFA in painting & worked as a graphic designer for many years. She switched from painting to glass about 20 years ago & is largely self taught. She has developed her own signature method of making glass behave like paint. Each piece is fired multiple times to get just the right colors & surface texture.
