Forms in Nature Trio 2

Art Glass Vessels
by Christopher Jeffries

Blown Glass
Large Green: 8”H, 12”W, 6”D
Medium Cerulean Blue: 9”H, 6”W, 6”D
Small Copper Blue: 5”H, 7”W, 7”D

This series is inspired by a variety objects we find in Nature. I am drawn to the movement and tactile surface these pieces have. These pieces are sculpted out of multiple gathers of thick glass, shifting and pulling the glass in different directions gives each piece its unique texture and feel.

I like the challenge of creating a form that has asymmetry to it, but yet still maintains it’s balance. No two pieces ever have the same shape, like in nature no two pieces are ever the same.

Christopher Jeffries Art Glass

Christopher Jeffries distinct designs embody the true beauty of hand-blown glass art. After graduating from Chico State University with a degree in Fine Art, he studied sculpture and design at Lorenzo De Medici in Florence, Italy. Following his true passion of hand-blown glass art, Christopher joined Haystack School of Crafts in Deer Isle, Mane were he studied under Sonja Blomdahl, a specialist of the incalmo technique. To further his knowledge and experience, Christopher enrolled at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina to train under Katherine Gray.

His passion for blowing glass led him to the Czech Republic—a country known for their rich traditions in hand blown glass art. Through a apprenticeship with master glassblower Igor Muller, Christopher gained even more knowledge of the fine techniques and designs that continue to inspire his career as a glass artist. These many experiences earned the recognition of Dale Chihuly, with an apprenticeship at the prestigious Boat House in Seattle, Washington.
